How To Save Money With Your Flooring

When it comes to saving money, flooring isn’t the first thing we think of. When we need to replace our floor, it usually makes us cringe as we’re going to have to spend a few pennies. But what if we told you that there’s certainly ways you can reduce the cost of your flooring, even by doing your research properly. Let’s have a look at some of the ways in which you can save money when you’re looking to replace your flooring, you’d be surprised!

Which Has The Cheapest Price Tag?

So the most obvious way to first approach this is to look at which flooring has the cheapest price tag in the first place. As much as we all enjoy the authentic look of solid wood, it does have a high price tag and most people simply don’t have the funds to pay for its luxury. If you’re looking for something budget friendly, then laminate and luxury vinyl tiles are much better options, especially laminate.

If you think you’re going to have to go for a uninspiring flooring with no character because you can’t spend as much, this isn’t the case! If you’ve fallen for the gorgeous, classical look of real wood but need something with a cheaper price tag then don’t worry. You can still get this desirable look through laminate and LVT, as both of them come in very realistic impressions of natural products that it’s almost impossible to tell them apart! Although we wont lie and say that you wont notice any difference, but if you’re prepared for something not totally natural then you’ll save yourself quite a few pennies!

Maintenance & Durability

It’s not just the price tag that we need to consider when thinking about saving money with our flooring. It’s how long they’re likely to last, which then comes down to their ease of maintenance and durability. Although real wood is pricy, it’s long life span more than makes up for it. It’s guaranteed to last a life time and is likely to outlive even the person laid it, you wont need to replace it in your lifetime! However although wood flooring is very durable it can scratch and stain, as well as being no good when it comes into contact with water. This means you need to be more careful about what comes into contact with it and spend a little more time cleaning and maintaining it. If the worst does happen then don’t panic, you can sand down and refinish wood floors to eradicate any scratches and stains. The best part is this should not normally need to be done for the first 15-20 years and can be done more than once, so you can only imagine how long these gorgeous floors can last for!

Although laminate and LVT don’t have quite such a long life span as real wood and can’t be sanded down and refinished, this doesn’t mean they’ll wear out in a few years! Both of these materials will offer you impressive durability and withstand lots of footfall without showing wear. The best thing about laminate and LVT is that they are both highly resistant to scratches stains and water, so will look good as new for many years! However, as soon as damage and wear does occur, there’s not much else you can do but to replace the whole floor, so bear this in mind!

It’s all about your priorities! If you’re looking for something that you don’t want to ever replace, then solid wood is a great long term investment. However, if you’ve just moved into a new home and need a quick cheap fix, them laminate and LVT are perfect!
